You’re constantly being bombarded with marketing messages… they are absolutely everywhere!
Your marketing needs to cut through all that clutter in order to reach your audience and convert them into clients.
The majority of businesses get this wrong… But yours won’t, because in the next 2 minutes I’m going to tell you exactly how to bulldoze over your competitors with ease.
Why did you start your business?
I can guarantee your answer is not: “I really wanted to do marketing”.
Most people don’t even think about marketing when starting their business, only learning soon after that marketing is essential if they want to increase the flow of clients to their business.
So what do they do?
Option 1 - Give up. Business isn’t for everyone. Oh well, we can’t all be winners.
Option 2 - Continue doing what they are doing, accepting that their business won't grow.
Option 3 - Look around and see what the competition is doing.
Assuming they have their head screwed on correctly - they will find a similar business and do roughly the same as them.
Because “This must be the way to do it, right?”
Real estate is a prime example… Ever noticed how every real estate agent has the same message in their advertising?
It’s either:
OR
It’s strange. You would assume that over the past 50 years, things would evolve?
NOPE.
To be honest it’s understandable, you enter a market because you have skills in that industry, not because you are a marketing expert… The safest thing to do is just follow someone else.
The problem being, the person you are copying also is fairly clueless when it comes to marketing and just copied someone else.
This results in an onslaught of similar messages, making it impossible for any single message (or business) to be memorable.
What we are seeing is, basically, endless marketing incest.
Here’s how you will stand out within your market:
There are more complex (and lucrative) ways to go about this, but for now you will go far if you follow 2 simple guidelines.
Firstly, don’t say the exact same thing many of your competitors say.
Secondly, say something that makes your ideal customer sit up and go: “Oh, wow… This is interesting”.
The first thing you need to do is grab their attention.
That's not going to happen by saying:
People ultimately care about themselves and solving their own problems.
You need to make it clear that you understand their predicament.
What are your prospective customers experiencing? What is it they want to fix?
Focus on their problem and basically ask them “Do you have this problem?”.
You will instantly capture their attention, at least for a second.
You then build on that, letting them know you understand what it is that they are struggling with and that you can help them out.
Get this right and you will be acquiring clients by the boatload.
